102 YEARS HAVE PASSED FROM THE MARCH 31 GENOCIDE

Inspired by the dream of creating a "Greater Armenia", the Armenian invaders openly carried out large-scale bloody actions against the Azerbaijanis in 1905-1907. The atrocities of the Armenians, which began in Baku, covered Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani villages in the territory of present-day Armenia. Hundreds of settlements were destroyed, thousands of Azerbaijanis were brutally killed. The organizers of these events created a negative image of the Azerbaijanis by obstructing the disclosure of the essence of the issue, giving it a proper legal and political assessment, and veiled their aggressive land claims. From March 1918, under the slogan of fighting the counter-revolutionary elements, the Baku Commune began to implement a nefarious plan aimed at cleansing the Baku province of Azerbaijanis in general. The crimes committed by Armenians in those days are forever engraved in the memory of the Azerbaijani people. Thousands of Azerbaijani civilians have been annihilated just because of their ethnicity.

According to official sources, about 12,000 Azerbaijanis were killed in massacres committed by Armenian armed groups from Baku Soviet and Dashnaktsutyun in different regions of Baku province, as well as in Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Hajigabul, Salyan, Zangazur, Karabakh, Nakhchivan and other areas. , tens of thousands of people are missing. Armenians set fire to houses and burned people alive. They destroyed the pearls of national architecture, schools, hospitals, mosques and other monuments, and turned a large part of Baku into ruins.

By the Order of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev dated March 26, 1998, March 31 is marked as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis.
As a Zirve Lyceum, we consider it our duty to commemorate the March 31 genocide!

    Rest in peace!.
